Memoir

Some stories are strictly personal. A few of these stories have appeared in print, others have not. Not much has been changed to protect the innocent, I guess because none of us are.

    • A Way Out
    • Band of Fathers
      Stay-at-home dads break out.
    • Disney On Ice
When animatronics meet alcoholism it’s not always pretty.
    • Drinking's End
You get divorced, you wreck a few cars, you go to jail. Then something serious happens.
    • Fatherland
Underneath the feedback of mad adolescence there lurks a legacy of silence.
    • Like Mother Like Daughter
When menopause and puberty visit at the same time you might consider your own walkabout.
    • Low School
How do you tell a teenager that dropping out means throwing his future away when he doesn’t believe in the present?
    • Nobody Died
After your parents die, people say they will be with you always. This is not necessarily a blessing.
    • Scranton
We went to Pennsylvania to help John Kerry in 2004. Too bad we didn’t head for Ohio.
